Frequently Asked Questions
What does Impact Analysis for Jira do?
Impact Analysis for Jira scans your Jira configuration before you make changes. When you select a Jira object — a custom field, workflow, screen, or automation — the plugin maps every other element that depends on it: filters, dashboards, boards, reports, and more. This way you know exactly what will break before you touch anything.
Who is this plugin for?
The plugin is designed for Jira Administrators, Atlassian Consultants, and Enterprise IT teams managing complex Jira Cloud instances. It is especially useful for teams that regularly perform configuration changes and need to prevent regressions or governance failures.
Is it really free for small teams?
Yes. Impact Analysis for Jira is completely free for Jira instances with 10 users or fewer. You get access to the full feature set — impact analysis, AI Admin Assistant, saved analyses — with no time limit. Paid tiers start from 11 users and are billed per user per month through your Atlassian account.
How does the AI Admin Assistant work?
The AI Admin Assistant lets you ask questions in plain language — for example, 'What will break if I rename this custom field?' or 'Which projects use this workflow?'. The assistant processes your question, runs the appropriate dependency scan across your Jira instance, and returns a complete, structured impact report in seconds.
Does the plugin store or transmit my Jira data?
No. Impact Analysis for Jira is built on Atlassian Forge, which means all computation happens inside your Atlassian Cloud environment. Your Jira configuration data never leaves your instance or is sent to external servers. Stable Point IO does not have access to your Jira data.
Does it work with Jira Data Center?
The current version runs on Jira Cloud (Forge). Jira Data Center support is on our roadmap. If you are running Data Center and need this capability, please contact us — we would like to understand your use case and timeline.
What Jira objects can be analyzed?
You can run impact analysis on: custom fields, workflows, workflow schemes, screen schemes, issue type schemes, boards, filters, dashboards, automation rules, projects, and permission schemes. The plugin maps cross-object dependencies across all of these types.
How do saved analyses work?
After running an analysis, you can save it with a name and timestamp. This creates a permanent record of the state of that object's dependencies at that point in time. You can run a second analysis after making your change and compare the two side-by-side — a useful audit trail for change governance.
Can I try it before buying?
Yes. Atlassian Marketplace provides a 30-day free trial on all paid tiers. Additionally, if your instance has 10 users or fewer, the plugin is free indefinitely. You can install it directly from the Atlassian Marketplace.
Where can I get support?
You can submit a support request through our Support Portal. We typically respond within 24 hours on business days. For urgent issues on Scale and Enterprise tiers, we offer prioritized SLA support.
